Compared with other species of Chrysis, this species is usually relatively large, being 10 mm or more in body length. It can be distinguished from the other large species, C. longula, in having the spurs on the middle tibiae of about equal length.
Sparingly recorded from Devon, Surrey, Kent and Northamptonshire.
Overseas, occurs in Europe (including Sweden, Finland,The Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Germany, north Italy, Poland, Hungary) and east to Mongolia.
Listed as RDB3 (Rare) in Shirt (1987) and RDB2 (Vulnerable) by Falk (1991).
Found in the habitats of its host and particularly at old walls, including cob walls.
