Most aculeates require skill and
experience to identify confidently. However there are a number of species
that with practice, can be recognised with a reasonable amount of
confidence. Some of these species are described here.
If you are thinking about recording aculeates seriously, you may wish to
start out by trying to recognise these distinctive species. Later, or even
earlier, you may wish to invest in equipment , keys and time to attend
workshops to learn how to identify the majority of British aculeates.
